The Council on College Admission in SD was originally established as the South Dakota Post-High School Coordinating Council in 1970.  It's purpose was (and is) to coordinate the college fairs at the various high schools in South Dakota.  Through the years, it has added numerous programs aimed at promoting informed decision making by high school students making plans for life after high school.

The council's programs now include regional school counselor workshops conducted each fall, an annual survey of high school juniors concerning college planning, publications exploring "Educational Opportunities in South Dakota" and other projects.
